How to convert AED to INR

Multiply the amount in UAE dirhams by the current rate: INR = AED × AED/INR rate. At a rate of 26.20, AED 100 equals 100 × 26.20 = ₹2,620.

To convert Indian rupees back to UAE dirhams, divide by the same rate: AED = INR ÷ AED/INR rate. For example, ₹1,000 ÷ 26.20 is about AED 38.17.

  1. Enter the amount in UAE dirhams in the first box of the converter.
  2. Read the value in Indian rupees in the second box – it updates as you type.

About the UAE dirham and the Indian rupee

The dirham (AED) is the currency of the United Arab Emirates and is issued by the Central Bank of the UAE. Since 1997 it has been pegged to the US dollar at 3.6725 dirhams per dollar, so its value against the dollar does not change from day to day.

Because of that peg, the AED to INR rate is simply the USD to INR rate divided by 3.6725. When the dollar rises against the rupee, the dirham rises with it, and when the rupee recovers, one dirham buys fewer rupees.

What moves the AED to INR rate?

  • The dollar–rupee rate: with the dirham fixed to the dollar, USD/INR is the single biggest driver of AED/INR.
  • RBI policy: interest rate decisions and currency intervention by the Reserve Bank of India move the rupee side of the pair.
  • Oil prices: expensive crude raises India’s import bill and tends to weaken the rupee against the dirham.
  • Investment flows into India: strong foreign buying of Indian shares and bonds supports the rupee.

Sending money from the UAE to India

Indians are the largest expatriate community in the UAE, and the UAE–India corridor is one of the busiest remittance routes in the world. Exchange houses, banks and money transfer apps all quote their own AED to INR rate, usually a little below the mid-market rate shown here, so compare the final rupee amount before you send.

Mid-market rate vs the rate you get

No bank or exchange company trades with customers at the exact mid-market rate. Each provider sets a buying rate and a selling rate around it and keeps the difference as its margin, sometimes with a separate transfer fee. The fairest way to compare services is to ask how much will arrive after every charge.

Why does AED to INR change if the dirham is pegged?

The dirham is pegged to the US dollar, not to the rupee. The rupee floats against the dollar, so the AED to INR rate moves every day in line with USD to INR.

When is the best time to send money from the UAE to India?

Nobody can predict the rate reliably. A practical approach is to compare today’s rate with the 30-day average in the converter and to check the fees of two or three providers before sending.

Is this the rate I will get from a bank or transfer service?

Usually not exactly. The figure shown is the mid-market reference rate. Banks and transfer services apply their own customer rates, which include a margin and sometimes extra fees.
